In our quest to explore the transformative impact of the enke: Youth4Service (Y4S) Program, we had the privilege of connecting with Kenneth, a dedicated participant and host partner who played an integral role in his community through this program.

When asked about the motivation behind becoming a partner in the enke: Y4S program, Kenneth shared that their organization was discovered by enke through social media. Recognizing the shared vision and alignment of their work with enke’s objectives, they saw an incredible opportunity to empower young people and create positive change in their lives. It was the common goal of both organizations that fuelled their decision to become partners and embark on this impactful journey together.

Reflecting on the highlights of being a host partner in the enke: Y4S program, Kenneth emphasized the value of the partnership itself. Collaborating with enke to implement the program brought significant growth and improvement to their organization’s internal processes and operations. They were exposed to better practices, including IT and data management, as well as innovative ways to leverage technology for their work. Additionally, witnessing the transformative impact on the lives of the youth they served was a truly rewarding experience. Being able to inspire and empower young individuals to take charge of their personal development and make a positive difference in their communities became a profound highlight for both their organization and the program.

In terms of the changes observed in the volunteers as a result of the program, Kenneth noted a significant shift in their attitudes and mindset. The youth participants became more positive, focused, and empowered to take initiative in their own lives. They began to see the bigger picture and recognize the value of the program, leading to tangible improvements in their skills and personal growth.

When discussing the impact of the enke: Y4S program in their community, Kenneth highlighted the tremendous positive changes that emerged. One notable example was a volunteer who took the initiative to start a community garden project at a local school, bringing forth numerous benefits. Organisations, such as old-age homes, expressed great satisfaction with the additional help provided by the volunteers, resulting in positive feedback for both the volunteers and the program as a whole. Witnessing the program’s aims being realized and the difference it made within their communities was truly inspiring and reinforced their belief in the program’s purpose.

He also mentions that through the partnership with enke, Galeshewe Youth Development learned invaluable lessons. They gained insights into managing larger volumes of volunteers, discovered new and improved approaches to project management, and became better equipped to execute their mandates successfully. The partnership allowed them to refine their processes and expand their capabilities, ultimately strengthening their ability to make a meaningful impact.

Despite the challenges faced during the implementation of the enke: Y4S program, such as delayed stipend payments, Kenneth emphasized the importance of communication and collaboration. Building meaningful relationships and maintaining open lines of communication enable both organisations to overcome challenges and ensure the program’s success.

Kenneth and his team at  Galeshewe Youth Development Centre, exemplify the spirit of understanding and collaboration that has driven the enke: Youth4Service (Y4S) Program. Their dedication to serving their communities with passion and diligence has made a lasting impact on the lives of the youth they work with, fostering empowerment and positive change.
