enke Head of Programmes on Nando’s Heatwave Radio

enke’s Head of Programmes, Skhumbuzo Moodaley-Mpisane was on Nando’s Heatwave Radio* Wellness Wednesday with Mzwa Ngubeni on 26 January 2022. Skhumbuzo shared insights on career counselling and tips on how matriculants, current learners and their parents can better navigate the transition to post-school life.

Some nuggets from the radio interview:

  • “Parents should discuss opportunities that young people can be exposed to. Career counselling is one way to get there.”
  • “I’m an advocate for learning from experience… As much as one can be exposed to information in theory, it is good to go out there and experience things hands-on to learn about yourself and what you want to do.  It’s part of the experiential learning that we advocate for at enke.”
  • Advice for Parents on how to cope with the transition to of their children from school – “Trust is important. As parents it’s important to carry the trust that you have had for your child and how you’ve raised that they can apply that in life after school, especially if they will be moving away from you.”
