enke recognised at E-Squared Responsible Social Entrepreneurship Awards
On 3 October 2023, we had the privilege to be part of E-Squared’s second Responsible Social Entrepreneurship Awards, hosted by E-Squared to acknowledge and reward Social Entrepreneurs and Social Enterprises E-Squared has invested in whose Values, Culture and Practices embody Responsible Entrepreneurship.
We are proud to have been awarded the Responsible Enterprise Practices award. The Award recognises social enterprises that drive strong revenue growth and have put governance structures and best practice models in place to support transparent and effective decision-making to drive delivery and sustainability. These enterprises also take conscious and deliberate efforts aimed at driving significant or positive changes that address social injustice and environmental challenges in an inclusive, sustainable and scalable fashion; and are engaged in conscious and ongoing cultivation of a network of transparent, fair, and responsible relationships with stakeholders, including investors, employees, customers, suppliers, government and other influencers, and broader society.
We thank E-Squared for this recognition and congratulate all the organisations that were recognised on the night.
The Awards Ceremony kicked off the 3-day E-Squared Social Enterprise Co-Lab, a wonderful immersive retreat where where we were able to meet, learn and exchange knowledge with fellow E-Squared Social Enterprise investees. E-Squared has created an incredible network of social entrepreneurs and enterprises that
A unique part of the SE Co-Lab was an opportunity for organisations to put forward entrepreneurial youth and alumni from their programs to participate in a pitching competition called “Pitch Not So Perfect”.
“It was great to have been part of the competition and have the opportunity for our alumni to showcase their capabilities as entrepreneurs.” – Development Manager
Young South Africans are the future of the country’s economy. They are bursting with innovative ideas and entrepreneurial spirit. But many of them struggle to pitch their ideas effectively to potential investors and partners. Pitch Not So Perfect was a new approach to pitching to help young South Africans revolutionize the way they approach business. By embracing imperfections, genuine passion, and relatable narratives, young entrepreneurs were supported to craft compelling pitches to resonate with audiences and drive success.
We had the pleasure of nominating 3 enke alumni to be part of this competition and pitch their business ideas. We provided support with putting together and editing their presentations as well as offering time for dry-run sessions. We are proud of alumni who gave great pitches on the night and were able to secure cash prize to build their businesses.

Thank you to all the teams and our staff who are involved in making these dreams and goals a reality for our young people and for continuously empowering and supporting our youth!
