Trailblazer Champion Role 2026
enke: Make Your Mark (enke) generates and incubates youth-led social impact and enterprise at scale. We work to connect, equip and inspire an active, engaged and diverse community of active citizens and effective leaders – youth with the self-belief and ability to identify and access opportunities to improve their future and that of others. We run holistic programs for high school, post-secondary and post-school youth which help young people fuel their desire and build their innate ability to identify and access opportunities for success.
This is an exciting opportunity to be part of the enke: Team, which empowers and supports youth to be drivers of positive social change in their communities. The Facilitator will be responsible for delivering the enke: Trailblazer+ Program content; drawing out knowledge and insights from group members using different skills, tools, exercises and natural abilities to keep the group engaged and the group discussions moving forward.
About the enke: Trailblazer+ Program
The enke: Trailblazer Program inspires and supports Grade 8 to 11 high school youth to create real change in their schools and communities. Participants design and run projects to address the educational and social issues they feel passionate about. Through this experience, participants increase their grit, social responsibility, self-efficacy and social capital, while gaining practical experience in project management and leadership
This is a national program that encourages participation from youth from every province in South Africa and beyond. This opportunity gives you a chance to gain valuable experience working with and learning from a youthful, high-achieving and supportive team contributing to real change in South Africa. This intake of the Trailblazer Program will be implemented in the following schools in the Limpopo province:

Thokampe Secondary School
Mantshako Secondary School
Ntsose Secondary School
Bochum:
Ramatema Secondary School
Tema Secondary School
Manoe Secondary School
Malusi Secondary School
As an organisation which supports grassroots community development, candidates should ideally be South African and be able to communicate not only in English but also languages spoken in these targeted areas.
Responsibilities
- To facilitate the delivery of the Trailblazer+ Program in line with the standardized enke delivery manuals
- Attending all workshops bi-weekly at the location where training will take place as advised by the organisation.
- To actively assist in program creation through providing feedback in bi-weekly meetings
- The Champion agrees to commit 3 hours bi-weekly to the enke: Trailblazer+ Program activities during the facilitation period between July 2026 – March 2026
- The Champion also commits to bi-weekly online meetings as scheduled by the enke team
- The Champion will be required to submit bi-weekly progress reports to the designated enke contact.
- The Champion shall be required to provide confirmation upon arrival for and at the end of each workshop day via sms/whatsapp to the Program Manager/Program Officer or designated enke contact
The Champion will support the 2026/27 Trailblazers in their efforts to start and complete the SAPs that these dedicated high school students (Grade 8-11) have designed to tackle social issues in their schools. As part of your duties, you will:
- Directly contribute to the success of youth in their efforts to change their schools.
- Help to make sure our Trailblazer+ Program participants feel supported by treating them with respect, asking questions and listening.
- Support Trailblazer+ Program participants as they form their Trailblazer+ Clubs in their schools.
- Become part of the enke Family including links to further personal and professional development opportunities through enke’s network.
- Exercise and enhance administrative and communication skills in a meaningful way.
- Increasing employability and career options by providing problem-solving and emotional support to Trailblazers via telephone, WhatsApp and Facebook
- Capturing information and compiling reports of assigned Trailblazers
- Assisting with the coordination of events to celebrate Trailblazer’s achievements
- Ad hoc support to the Program Coordinators
- Commit to 60 hours per month and at least 7 days per month working 6 hours per day (11:30-17:30)
- Submit monthly progress reports to the Program Assistant on the Trailblazer SAP implementation progress
Requirements
- A grade 12 qualification at the minimum.
- Ability to work flexible hours, as well as some evenings and weekends;
- Fluency in written and spoken English and ability to speak at least two other South African languages.
- Evidence of active engagement within a community context (e.g. volunteering, or active engagement within your community or involvement in community projects)
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, presentation skills and interpersonal skills; High level of attention to detail;
- Passion for working with young people, a pro-active energy
- Ability to accomplish tasks with minimal supervision and take direction;

Start date: June 2026 – March 2027 (9 Months fixed contract, must be available for Training in June)

Remuneration: R4000 (Airtime/data and transportation assistance to be provided)
Location: Hybrid (Candidate should be able to get to Bochum or Eldorado Village)
